Our story starts in 1478, when the university was granted its first printer. In 1884, OUP first published the Oxford English Dictionary, considered the definitive resource on the English language, and in 1945 we launched the Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, the world’s bestselling learner’s dictionary (the “father” of all ELT dictionaries).
